For your first essay, I want you all to continue the in-class assignment in which you described your favorite place. For this essay, please expand beyond the description, explaining why it is your favorite place and provide us with some background information or historical information that might better help us understand the significance of this place.
Perhaps the place has become your favorite because of its aesthetic beauty or its peacefullness; or perhaps it became your favorite place because of some event that occurred there. Whatever the reason, be sure to explicate fully why this has become your favorite place. Also, be sure to describe it in such a way as to enable your reader to “see” the place, as well.
Your first draft of this essay is due on September 15th. On September 15th, be sure to bring in a copy for each person within your group, to discuss (also, bring a copy for me).
Your final essays are due the following Monday, on September 29th. Please also bring in all commented upon drafts (both instructor and peer review comments).
